Creating Pathways Through Education

Early motherhood can interrupt a girl's education and make it difficult to continue learning or access opportunities. Our education and skills initiatives help young mothers identify pathways that match their circumstances, interests and goals.

The project brings together education support, vocational training, mentorship and practical skills to help participants build confidence and prepare for greater independence.

What the Project Includes

School Reintegration

Supporting girls who wish to return to formal education and helping them navigate the process of resuming their studies.

Vocational Skills

Providing practical training that enables participants to explore skills they can use for employment, self-employment and income generation.

Educational Support

Assisting with essential learning materials and other needs that can make it easier for girls to participate in education and training.

Mentorship & Guidance

Creating opportunities for girls to receive guidance as they make decisions about education, skills development, work and personal growth.

Digital Literacy

Introducing participants to basic computer skills and digital learning opportunities that can support education and future employment.

Career & Future Planning

Helping participants explore their interests, identify opportunities and develop practical next steps for their education, training or work.

Expanding Access to Digital Learning

Digital skills are becoming increasingly important for education, employment and access to information. We are working towards creating a dedicated digital learning space where young mothers can use technology for schoolwork, research, online learning and basic computer skills.

We are currently seeking support for laptops, desktop computers and other digital learning resources to help establish and equip this space.

Individuals, companies, foundations and technology partners can contribute by donating equipment, providing digital learning resources or supporting the purchase of computers.

Every participant comes with different experiences, responsibilities and aspirations. The project therefore takes a flexible approach, helping girls identify the education or skills pathway that is most relevant to their situation.

Whether returning to school, learning a vocational skill, developing digital abilities or preparing for employment, the focus is on providing practical opportunities that can help each girl move forward.

Becoming a young mother does not have to bring learning and ambition to an end. With access to education, skills and the right opportunities, girls can continue learning, discover their abilities and work towards a more independent future.

Building a Permanent Home of Hope

A long-term vision to create a safe, permanent home where vulnerable teenage mothers and their children can live, learn, heal and build towards a more secure future.

A Permanent Place to Call Home

Wings of Hope Rescue Home currently provides shelter and support to vulnerable teenage mothers and their children. But our long-term vision goes beyond temporary shelter.

We are working towards establishing a permanent home designed around the needs of teenage mothers and their children — a place where they can receive care, continue their education, develop practical skills and access the support they need to rebuild their lives.

The project requires approximately KES 290 million (USD 2.2 million) to acquire land and develop the permanent home and its facilities.

Dedicated residential spaces where teenage mothers and their children can live in a safe, stable and supportive environment.

Education & Learning

Spaces that support education, digital learning, study and continued development for the girls and their children.

Skills & Empowerment

Vocational training and practical skills spaces where young mothers can learn skills that can contribute to future livelihood opportunities.

Counselling & Support

Dedicated spaces for counselling, psychosocial support, mentorship and other services that help girls work through difficult experiences.

Health & Maternal Support

Facilities designed to support health, maternal and child wellbeing as part of a holistic care environment.

Recreation & Community

Safe spaces for recreation, play, mentorship and community activities that support healthy development and belonging.

Why a Permanent Home Matters

A permanent facility would allow Wings of Hope to bring several services together in one environment instead of depending on temporary spaces.

It would create room for residential care, education, counselling, skills training and other support services while giving the girls and their children a stable environment in which to grow.

Most importantly, the home would provide continuity. A girl would not only receive immediate protection; she would have access to support and opportunities that can continue as she works towards greater independence.

A Historic Milestone for Wings of Hope

On 15 August 2026, Wings of Hope Rescue Home celebrated a truly special milestone: the graduation of our very first beneficiary from university.

Sarah's graduation is more than an academic achievement. It is a powerful testimony of resilience, determination, and hope. Her journey reminds us that a difficult beginning does not have to determine a young mother's future.

From her time at Wings of Hope to completing her university education, Sarah has demonstrated the courage and commitment it takes to pursue a better future. Her achievement represents what is possible when vulnerable young mothers are given the support, education, encouragement, and opportunities they need to rebuild their lives.

A Day of Celebration and Thanksgiving

Family, friends, supporters, partners, volunteers and members of the Wings of Hope community came together to celebrate Sarah's achievement and give thanks for the journey that brought her to this important moment.

The celebration was filled with joy, gratitude, encouragement and reflection. It was also an opportunity to recognize everyone who has played a part in supporting Sarah and the many young mothers who continue to work towards brighter futures.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Creating Skills for the Future

At Wings of Hope Rescue Home, we support teenage girls and young mothers who have experienced circumstances that can interrupt their education and limit their future opportunities.

The Beading & Skills Empowerment Project gives the girls a structured space to learn beadwork, practise their skills and develop products while building confidence, creativity, patience and teamwork.

The project also introduces participants to basic entrepreneurship so that they can begin understanding how a practical skill can be developed into an income-generating opportunity.

TRAINING IN ACTION

Learning Through Practice

Beadwork sessions give participants time to practise what they have learned, work alongside one another and receive guidance from the trainer.

The sessions are designed to move beyond simply keeping the girls occupied. Participants are encouraged to develop a skill they can continue using beyond their time at Wings of Hope.

As their skills improve, the programme aims to connect practical training with product development, entrepreneurship and future income-generating opportunities.
